Minute Cdr
Transfer vids Sony DCR-HC14E to PC and / or CD / DVD?

I want to transfer my mini DV movies on PC, record music on them, em edit then burn to a disc loaded CD / CDR / CDRW or preferably DVD. I installed the Picture Package software from the CD-ROM on PC, connected USB port, USB streaming up automatically activated and the video section. But by that copies a maximum of 3 minutes and I can not change the figure, to record on the hard disk that is marked, but can not find where you save the clip of 3 minutes. Do I need a video editing software? One FireWire? what ever that is a cable or card i think. Fit into my camcorder, I have USB, Mini DV and S-video jacks on it. And finally Where can I get a free editing software. Thank you
