What is the best method for safeguarding data, and why?
Such as pictures, videos, music, documents, files, etc. external hard drives, internal configurations, DVD's etc etc, online storage …. What are the advantages and disadvantages, and it the best and most bulletproof method will?
While RAID is ideal for redundancy, which should not be considered as a backup. The two methods often recommend to people who use an external drive or another computer to store local backups. Backups can be created with the built in the Backup utility in Windows if you need to back up locked files or locked files are not a problem of one copy of the unit or external equipment. I also recommend people to keep backups off-site using an online backup. Most Copy Services Secure Online offer the ability to save all your data and a pretty cheap price. You can also schedule a backup data several times during the day so you do not have to worry about not forget to backup. Do not rely on one type of backup on failure. Local Backups are great, but can still lose if the external drive is stolen. Online backups are great, but does not restore the use too.
