I have a Dvdrw drive, and when I insert a dvd into the drive the drive letter shows cdrom drive why?

If you know what brand the drive is, go to the manufacturer’s website and look for support and downloads. Then look for an update for the drive’s drivers.

Need help with my CD/DVD drive.?

Hello, i got a HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B CD-rom device. The guy i bought my computer from has burned stuff alot, and i wanna do to. but for some reason when i insert a blank CD/DVD my computer doesnt register it :S so it says there is no CD inside the device. anyone know what the problem might be and what i can do to fix it?

you need to make sure there isnt any dust to start off

also do a rundown of all the CDs you have used to see if they have been sratched … you never know

always make sure you are using the correct type of “BLANK” cd for what you are doing DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW etc …

make sure you have installed the Burner correctly to your computer so it knows it there (via usb or other hook up)

make sure any unknown settings havent been set that would keep you from making CDs

check the CDs to see if there are already files on them … if you dont need them … delete them
