Can I connect an AC adapter for Acer laptop from IBM?

My power adapter for my IBM laptop is about die. The cable in the black plastic is broken, and I realized the son metal begin to emerge. I had my office on a tape in the good position to face successfully charge my battery. So my question is, I have a ACER replacement adapter at home, can I connect to my computer IBM laptop? My computer can fly above or adapter? It is a story I heard. Please help before I can recharge my laptop already! X

Mac harddrive in external enclosure?

I’m trying to pull files off of an old mac and onto my new PC. My external hard drive enclousure doesn’t support Mac OS X 10.4 so I can’t copy straight to that. I’m trying the mac HD in the external enclosure connected to my PC but it doesn’t recognize the HD. I’ve tried playing with jumper settings to no effect. Please help, half a dozen Marx Bros. movies are stranded! Here are the specifics on the components

If he tries to use Target mode, he will have the same problem. The drive is still Mac formatted and the PC won’t be able to mount it.

If the G4 is still available, put the drive back into it and network the 2 computers or burn the Marx Bros. to a DVD. That might not be a bad idea actually, as you will have a backup.

Replacing IBM/Lenovo ac adapter?

Hi, I have to buy a repacemnet ac adapter for my IBM lenovo T60 laptop. I m finding adapters whose sepecification is 90 watts and 20 volts. But the one I have shows 65 watts and 20Volts. is it ok to buy the new one as it has same volts that of the current one I have? does watts really matter? Please suggest.

90W and 65W are the maximum powers the adapters can supply. Your T60 can pull something less than 65W maximum so it was shipped with a 65 W adapter.

Hooking up an appropriate 90W adapter should not harm the system. It will probably be a bit larger and run a bit cooler.

Lenovo launched the Lenovo 3000 C100, a stylish widescreen notebook combining popular features at an attractive price. The N100 will be available in 14.1-inch- and 15.4-inch- wide models. All Lenovo 3000 PCs include Lenovo CareSM, a software application that helps your computer recover from viruses at the touch of a button, update itself and enable it to easily connect to wireless networks.

Open things up and you really get a feel for how dated this notebook appears. If it wasn’t for the rounded corners, I’d have trouble telling the difference between this and a six year old machine. The 4:3 ratio, 1,024 x 768 screens is the first indication of this. The quality isn’t bad, but it actually feels like a panel from an old notebook, possibly due to the slightly poor contrast ratio. Perhaps panel manufacturers are only concentrating on the widescreen panels now and haven’t updated 1,024 panels in the past few years. 1,024 x 768 is fine if this is only a secondary machine, but if I was using this all day everyday, I would want a little more desktop real estate to play with – that said, many notebook manufacturers maintain that a large portion of the customer base still wants this resolution in a large physical screen.

The plastic used for the rest of the chassis is a finely pitted dark grey, much like you’d see on the inside of a budget mid-80’s car or on a canteen chair. Despite this apparent roughness, it’s actually fairly smooth to the touch. The optical drive is decorated to match. This is a contrast to the lid which has a smooth silver finish.

ThinkPad laptops generally have excellent keyboards. The C100 isn’t a ThinkPad, and it doesn’t have a ThinkPad keyboard, but what it does have is pretty good. The keyboard is a bit more cramped than those on comparable systems, such as the Pavilion dv4000, but the keys are firm, wide, and very comfortable to type on. The touch pad is a bit small, though, and the touch-pad buttons don’t give as much as we’d like; alas, it lacks the ThinkPad’s red, eraser-head pointing stick. Above the keyboard sits a lonely mute button–the extent of the C100’s dedicated multimedia controls–and one other button, which summons Lenovo’s useful system-management and help utility. Both the Inspiron E1505 and the Pavilion dv4000 have dedicated multimedia buttons and full external volume controls.

Lenovo 3000 C100 notebook also sports standard DVD/CD-RW combo optical drive and has integrated 802.11/b/g wireless network connection, a 10/100 Ethernet adapter, built-in 56 kbps fax/modem and 3-in-1 media card reader. Instant On feature of Lenovo 3000 C100 notebook allows playing MP3s, music CDs, and DVDs or look at digital photos without having to boot into Windows XP, and the Express Card 54 slot offering more ‘future-proof’ upgrades than a traditional PC Card slot or an Express 34 slot. Wi-Fi ready Lenovo 3000 C100 notebook PC offers four-pin FireWire, four USB 2.0, 3-in-1 digital media reader (SD/MMC/MS), Audio/S-video in, External Display (VGA), External Microphone/Line-In, Headphone/Line out, IEEE 1394, RJ-11, RJ-45, and TV/S-Video Out port.
